Keynote: Scaling developer evangelism without significantly growing the core evangelism team
Date/Time: Tuesday, March 19 - Keynote Room - 1:30am
Abstract:
Increasing the number of evangelists is key to helping developers realize your organization’s commitment towards developer success on your platform. However, justifying the increased budget and spend is always hard as developer advocacy and relations is not directly tied to immediate pipeline growth and closed deals. This session will cover Oracle’s approach to significantly growing the awareness of Oracle’s Cloud platform as an intelligent, easy, and modern platform for developers to build next gen cloud native applications with messaging based interfaces and AI/ML built in, with very little growth in the number of full-time dedicated evangelists. Partnering internally and externally was key.

In today’s competitive business environment, speed and agility are keys to getting ahead. The need for increased velocity and faster innovation cycles puts a premium on developer time. This has resulted in a greater focus on developer experience and productivity. That’s the good news. The bad news is that all too often, DevEx is an afterthought. That is understandable; after all you need a functioning system first. However, leaving DevEx concerns until too late in the process can lead to a system design that imposes constraints on usability and creates complexities that can be hard to address after the fact. This talk will cover how Netflix weaves DevEx and Operability considerations into its development process, with the goal of building systems that are effective for developers who consume from them, as well as those who develop and operate them.
